Small World was a collection of foreign animated preschool TV shows that aired on Cartoon Network from 1996 to 2002 for six years. It also played on Cartoon Network in Latin America under the title Pequeño Mundo, and lasted considerably longer than it did on Cartoon Network in the US, having ran during the City era until 2006. Some shows that aired on the original US version were noticeably missing in the Latin American version, like Mr. Men and Little Miss and Dick Bruna Stories, which ran on Discovery Kids (CN's cousin channel) instead.
The series was also known for broadcasting Soupe Opéra, a French stop-motion series produced by Marlou Films for France 3 in 1991 until 2000, as it aired on Cartoon Network in the US and Latin America. The British announcer in a promo chatting with Pingu described it as "Dancing Food from France". The show has developed a following for giving children a case of childhood trauma.
The bumpers (made from computers) for the block were partially inspired by the 1995 Disney/Pixar film Toy Story.
